A movie for a movie week …
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” – Henry David Thoreau
Most of my life I have lived by the clock and allowed the clock to rule my life.
I have been on umpteen courses and read myriads of books to try to learn how to control time, each time believing I’d found the ‘secret’. And each time truly believing I had the answer, only to find weeks later, that nothing had changed.
How much time I’d wasted trying to control time?
Look at what I’d been doing!
I’d been using up a resource that I was trying to control, trying to control it. (Even now, when I read what I just wrote, it makes no sense.) And all the while not understanding that no matter what I did the clock would keep ticking.
No wonder we lead lives of quiet desperation.
Changing from the clock to the compass is one of the most exciting challenges I’ve ever undertaken. Bringing direction into my life instead of chasing something over which I have no control has in actual fact made more of that valuable resource, time, available.
